project:

renovation of a quirky 1970’s timber pole house into a 4 bed 3 bath + office home. Stage 2 design includes additional guest studio to unused undercroft space design

strategy:

fast tracked design/build process to repair/replace very poor structure & reconfigure existing design to vastly improve functionality, natural light, solar gain, connection to site & views to estuary, headlands & ocean.

making use of very steep site to create new space in undercroft (Stage 2) design specificsinsertion of structural steel skeleton through building to rectify inadequate /deteriorated structure

greatly improved natural light
introduced access to Winter sun
natural cross ventilation + fans
rainwater system for landscape irrigation reused & recycled timber components low VOC finishes
